TPS3813K33-EP: Watchdog reset issue at the time of flash and debugging

Part Number: TPS3813K33-EP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3823, TPS35, TPS3850

Tool/software:

Hello,

We are using TPS3813K33 for watchdog reset with c2000 series controller. While flashing/debugging we have observed that watchdog chip is resetting controller. For development purpose we have bypass this chip at the time of flashing. I wanted to know how to disable this chip while flashing/debugging as this chip dont have any hardware enable pin. WDI pin we have tied with GPIO of controller, is there any way to enable/disable this chip using WDI pin?

Other chip like TPS3306-18 having mention that  for WDI "If the input is unconnected or tied with a high impedance driver, the watchdog is disabled and will be retriggered internally".

Please help on this topic.

  • Hi Nilesh,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Unfortunately, the TPS3813K33 does not have a watchdog enable/disable function. If this design is not already finalized, we recommend switching to a newer device that has the watchdog disable function.

Please check TPS3823, If WDI pin left floating, the device generates pulses internally to prevent watchdog reset event. Another recommendation can be TPS3850, or TPS35 since they can be controlled with set0 and set1 pin or WD-EN pin to enable/disable.

    Best,

    Sila

  • Hi Sila,

Thank you for your reply and part suggestion.

I am looking for EP grade part, as this is Aerospace requirement. If EP grade is not available then at least operating temperature with -55 to 125 deg C.

Unfortunately suggested parts are not EP grade.

Let me know if there is any EP grade part available with watchdog enable/disable feature.

    Thanks,

    Nilesh

  • Hi Nilesh,

Do you know how long you need the watchdog to be waited for not resetting the flashing?

    Best,

    Sila
