Yes, you can use LM51772 as a bi-directional supply.
Currently, we are working on the App note for this device, but you can use the App-note from LM5177 device to configure LM51772 as a bi-directional supply.
But you need additional configurations to fully set this device as a bi-directional supply. As mentioned below:
1. You can disable VDET feature via a R2D on CFG2 Pin (See page 52 of LM51772 datasheet)
2. You need to check the Input voltage protection feature of the device. If the input voltage is higher than the input voltage threshold VT+(IVP) the device will only allow forward direction operation by disabling the FPWM mode.
3. If you are also interested in current monitoring in bidirectional operation, you can check the following App-note because few pins are different in LM51772 compare to the LM5177 device.
