BQ25750: BQ25750 as Drone charger

Part Number: BQ25750

Tool/software:

HI TI Team
1. Can the Power Path switch automatically without I2C control?

2. If the input switch needs to use the battery to power the input end when it is started, and then the input power is supplied to the system end, is this method possible?

3. Can the CC current be adjusted through software? For example: Is the CC current adjustable in steps of 1A, 2A, and 3A? If so, how should it be controlled?

  • Hello Fangyu,

    1. Yes, the power path can switch automatically without I2C control

    2. I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. Can you rephrase this question?

    3. Yes, the CC current can be adjusted through I2C commands. You can control the charge current though the ICHG register.

  • The Power Path switch design can use the battery to supply power to the input and SYS terminals (loop 1) first, and then the INPUT will supply power when the input power supply > the battery voltage, the battery switch will be closed. Is this method possible? If so, how should it be designed?

Can the CC current (Charge Current ICHG) be adjusted through software to change the charging current? For example: Is the CC current 1A, 2A, 3A step-by-step charging instead of single current charging? If so, how should it be controlled?

Yes, this is possible. The BQ25750 will operate this way by default.

We have an FAQ on the power path switchover here: e2e.ti.com/.../faq-bq25750-what-do-i-need-to-know-about-the-bq25750-power-path-switchover

Yes, the CC current and be adjusted by software through Reg0x02. The CC current can be adjusted from 400mA to 20000mA with a bit step of 50mA. The CC current can either be controlled by I2C or by hardware resistors.

Let me know if this answers your questions.
