Hello Yamamoto-san,
Thanks for the inquiry. The drain pin (2) for a TI FET in TO-220 package is electrically connected internally to the metal tab. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi John-san,
Thank you for the clear answer! It helps me to answer the customer's question. I apologize for the additional question after pushing solved button. My customer is looking for the FET which package is similar to TO-220 package and doesn't electrically connected drain pin and the package internally. Are there any TI's FETs which meet these requirements?
Best regards,
Shunsuke Yamamoto
Hello Yamamoto-san,
Thanks for the update. We do not make any FETs in TO-220 or other packages with the drain pin not connected internally. These devices are constructed with the FET die sitting on the die paddle or tab of the package which is electrically connected to the center pin. In the D2PAK package, the center pin is trimmed and does not get soldered onto the PCB. The drain connection is made to the tab of the package. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Best Regards,
John
