CSD88539ND: Avalanche ratong in continuous pulses

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD88539ND

Tool/software:

Hi all,.

We are considering using this FET as an alternative to the Renesas HAT2114RJ.

[Conditions]

After the FET is turned on, a reverse electromotive voltage is generated for 17 μs.

When ON, the current is 3.3 A peak.

Vdss due to the reverse electromotive voltage is about 74 V.

Continuously, it continues about 120 times at the maximum.

Renesas HAT2114 has a continuous pulse avalanche rating but I understand TI's avalanche rating is one time.

Is it possible to guarantee the above use cases? Or could you give us some comments? such as if the avalanche energy is in the specifications and there is no problem.

I would appriciate if give me any advice.

Best Regards,

Ryusuke

  • Hello Ryusuke,

Thanks for promoting TI FETs at your customer. TI does not test or rate our FETs for repetitive avalanche. TI does not recommend and cannot guarantee reliable operation in repetitive avalanche. The CSD88539ND is only rated and tested for single pulse avalanche as specified in the datasheet. The HAT2114RJ is rated for automotive applications and the TI device is not.
