EV2400: Troubleshooting EV2400

Part Number: EV2400
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27Z746

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

One of my customers has brought some issues to my attention that I think it is worth sharing. See the note below and let me know if TI is able to fix these issues moving forward. Thanks!

"I have just tried to fire up the EV2400 battery EVM communications box on my main laptop running windows 11 (Battery Management Studio) and I have had a “Fun” time getting it to work.

I see that the BQ27Z746 chip is only supported on the latest test version 1.3.127.3 but that does not detect the EV2400 (not even the firmware updater software detects it).

I tried the older versions 1.3.101.1 and 1.3.86.6 but they also do not detect the EV2400 box (instead show a EV2300 box constantly there).

I then discovered a Redit post here:- PSA: TI EV2400 Not Detected in BQSTUDIO : r/embedded

That blames a conflict with a Logitech G-HUB driver (which I have) so I have turned that off.

Now the older 1.3.86.6 software does discover the EV2400 and the firmware updater does work (the 0.32 latest version) – but the newer 1.3.101.1 or 1.3.127.3 don’t detect it.

So I have copied the config file from the latest software and put it in the config directory of the working old version 1.3.86.6 and now it is happily running in windows 11.

I thought it was worth sharing this news with you for other customers."

Best,

Jason Maxwell
