TPS1HTC30-Q1: Current limit configuration

Part Number: TPS1HTC30-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I have a question regarding the current limit of TPS1HTC30-Q1. I understand ILIM is determined by RILIM, and the range of ILIM is from 2A to 16A. Based on the current limit characteristics of 6.5 of the datasheet, The recommended RILIM value is from 10kohm to 50kohm which is from 2A of ILIM to 10A of ILIM. How should we set ILIM value of from 10A to 16A?

Best regards,

Shunsuke Yamamoto

  • Hi Shunsuke,

Yes, the ILIM pin can have a 10 kΩ to 50 kΩ resistor, be connected to ground, or left open to get three different responses from the device. Since the internal current limit is more for fail-safe conditions, it is recommended to have an external RILIM resistor. However, the internal current limits are defined as typical values so they could be more or less; since RILIM = ground is expected to have an internal limit of 16A, the entire device is considered as configurable from 2-16A but you cannot set the limit from 10-16A using an external resistor.
