BQ24800: Best power path chip for my needs

Part Number: BQ24800
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25798

Tool/software:

Hello,

You have a lot of power path chips available and I could spend a whole day going through all your spec sheets, but instead, I would like to ask for your help in recommending what you have best for our needs.

Building a mini UPS for 12V DC. 12V power adapter and 3S lithium batteries for 12v load.

The total current needs is 5amp, but higher than this would be great for safety.

Just need to know what you recommend that uses the least amount of external components without sacrificing too much in terms of safety / performance.

When the DC ext power is plugged in it should power the load and charge the batteries and when the ext power fails the lithium batteries should supply the 12v load, so iffff possible, for the IC to regulate / boost power to 12v if necessary would be great.

Again, has to be able to handle 5amp for several minutes without getting too hot.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,
Mark
