Tool/software:
Hi,
We have the following scenario in one of our implementations:
- The unit are connected to a 5V supply which can only supply 500mA. The charger IC also set the current limit to 500mA.
- When the unit is running the system requirement is also about 500mA. When measuring the battery current, it can fluctuate between -100mA to +100mA (max). It is typically anywhere between these values.
- We are observing a state where the charger can suddenly stop charging and the battery will drain until the unit powers off. Note that this is observed on a unit in the field of operation, so we do not have clear reasons why this is happening. We assume the power supply to the unit is connected.
Do you know if the continous switching of the current to the battery from small negative to small positive numbers, can cause the charger IC to stop charging and stay in this state until a reset?
Thanks,
Amos
