BQ76952: Does bq76952 support the design of 16S ternary lithium batteries?

Part Number: BQ76952

Tool/software:

TI's experts,

Does bq76952 support the design of 16S ternary lithium batteries?

Full charge voltage of battery pack:4.2*16=67.2V,

bq76952 chip voltage withstand value 85V,

The maximum voltage of DSG and CHG pins is 67.2 (BAT)+10V (Vgs)=77.2V,

Are DSG and CHG easily damaged?

  • Hi,

From the battery monitor perspective, there are battery chemistry independent, as long as the voltages are within the specs. Ternary batteries, are similar to LiIon, so the BQ769x2 can be use to support this system. The DSG and CHG are not easily damage, however you should follow the datasheet recommendation and make sure to take precautions on your system design to stay within the abs max and avoid damaging the IC.
