BQ76922: fuse feature

Part Number: BQ76922

Tool/software:

Hello,

We're looking into the fuse pin on the bq76922.

  • Is there a way to trigger the Fuse Pin drive only through the 0x001DFUSE_TOGGLE() - I2C command?
  • How long does it take the DFE to set the FUSE pin after receiving an I2C command?

Thank you, Keith

  • Hello Keith,

Is there a way to trigger the Fuse Pin drive only through the 0x001DFUSE_TOGGLE() - I2C command?

It should be possible as long as you disable the FUSE from being triggered by a PF. This should be the Settings:Protection:Protection Configuration[PF_FUSE] configuration bit.

How long does it take the DFE to set the FUSE pin after receiving an I2C command?

We do not have the timing it would take for the FUSE pin to actually toggle after the command is received. I can confirm this on bench sometime on our own board next week as I will be out of office tomorrow.

    Best Regards,
    Alexis

  • Please let us know the results of your bench testing  Thanks Alexis!

  • Hello Keith,

Thank you for your patience. I have some waveforms below I took to show the timing.

    FUSE_Not_Zoomed_In

Yellow = SCL, Blue = SDA, Green = FUSE

This first one shows it not zoomed in after the subcommand is completed.

Here is a zoomed in shot. From both of them, the timing was measured to be ~1.62ms.

Something to note, the device may still be able to blow the fuse if the stack voltage is above a threshold given by Settings:Fuse:Min:Blow Fuse Voltage. I recommend choosing a high value to ensure the FUSE will only be driven by the command.

    Best Regards,
    Alexis
