BQ2980: Do we have 2nd protector device which OVP is 4.55V and OVP delay between 4-9s?

Part Number: BQ2980

Tool/software:

Hi expert,

My customer (CosMX) is looking for a 2nd protector device which OVP is 4.55V and OVP delay between 4-9s. Do we have suitable devices?

Best Regards,

Ryker

  • Hello Ryker,

We have protectors that can meet your OVP requirement, however, the highest delay for OVP I believe we provide is up to 6.5s. Would that be sufficient?

Also, I noticed you had BQ2980 listed as the device. Are you only looking at 1S protectors as well that meet this requirement?

    Best Regards,
    Alexis

  • Hi Alexis,

Yes, customer needs 1S protestors with 4.55V OVP and 4-9s delay time. Do we have suitable devices? Please also tell us the 2S protestors devices which can meet the request. Thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Ryker

  • Hello Ryker,

    For 1S protectors we have:

    • BQ297xy family (max delay is 4.5s for OVP)
    • BQ298xx family (max delay is 4.5s for OVP)
    • BQ2946xx family (max delay is 6.5s for OVP)

I would double-check the specifics to make sure they are what you are looking for.

For all of our 2S protectors, they should all meet the OVP requirement and most will have the max delay option of 6.5s. I would recommend going to TI's Battery Protectors page to help narrow down which one would be better for what you need.

    Best Regards,
    Alexis

  • Hi Alexis,

What's the full part number of BQ287xx, BQ298xx, BQ2946xx. I can't find suitable full part number that can meet the 4.5s/ 6.5s delay time.

    Best Regards,

    Ryker

  • Hello Ryker,

BQ297xy, etc. is a placeholder row to show the available settings that TI can program. It is not an actual orderable part yet. Requesting a new version with the requirements you would like requires a significant business case to warrant the development. Is this something they would be interested in?

    Best Regards,
    Alexis
