BQ27Z561-R2: Start failure

Dear sir,

 When the BQ27Z561-R2 was turned on under sunlight or halogen lite, BQ27Z561-R2 does not start.
 When the BQ27Z561-R2 was turned on indoors, BQ27Z561-R2 start.
 If the BQ27Z561-R2 is started, it can communicate with the BQ studio via I2C.
 Does the BQ27Z561-R2 need to be protected from light when used?

    Hello,

    The should be able to work under sunlight or halogen light however the issue from the device not starting could be due to over heating, cell undervoltage, incorrect connection points and etc.

     Thank you for your reply.

     We are using BQ27Z561-R2.
     The BQ27Z561-R2 is only molded on the top surface.
     Do the currently shipped BQ27Z561-R2 have molded sides and bottom surface?

    Dear Alan

     I have a mistake.
     It was mercury lamp, not halogen light.

     When our PCB board with BQ27Z561-R2 mounted was turned on about 5cm from the mercury lamp, BQ27Z561-R2 does not start.
     As we gradually moved it away from there, BQ27Z561-R2 started when it was about 25cm away from the mercury lamp.
     When BQ27Z561-R2 is working, if we move it back to about 5cm from the mercury lamp, BQ27Z561-R2 still works.

     If we attached the black label to the BQ27Z561-R2 and our PCB board was turned on about 5cm from the mercury lamp, BQ27Z561-R2 start.

     "molded" mean resin mold.
     Please refer to bellow two pictures.
     One is BQ27Z561-R2 side picture.
     Another is other device's side picture.
     Could you do resin molding on BQ27Z561-R2?
