TPS23754: Reference design for 60V or 48V

Part Number: TPS23754
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP22301, TPS2372

Tool/software:

Is there a reference design for the TPS23754 that outputs 48-60V? As close to 60V as possible would be preferred.

For our initial testing, I used the PMP22301 reference design that produces 24V, and boosted that to 60V, but my power budget for an 802.3at powered device is..... extremely tight. Removing the losses from the double conversion would help. I would have preferred to use the 802.3bt standard, but, finding a COTS PSE switch that was in a sane price point didn't seem possible.

I have gone through the design workbook for the TPS2375X devices but, I am fairly certain that the result of my efforts is that I may need a custom transformer. This may not be ideal for low volume production in the future.

  • Hi Jason,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Unfortunately we do not have reference design > 24V. Do you need an isolated or non-isolated DC/DC with 48V / 60V output?

If non-isolated, you could use TPS2372 as the PD and an integrated DC/DC module with 48V / 60V output.

If isolated (which meet IEEE 802.3BT “145.4.1 Isolation” ), you may build a flyback: input 37-57V, output 48V / 60V. Some 48V transformers could be found in  www.coilcraft.com/.../

    Best regards,
