BQ28Z610-R1: Questions about after completing the learning cycle

Part Number: BQ28Z610-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Tool/software:

HELLO

I have a gauging problem in the golden image made by the previous made, so I'm currently making a new golden image after looking at the 'slua903_Acheving The Successful Learning Cycle' document.

I think making the learning cycle is over now that the update status has changed to 06, but I have some questions here.

1. At the 5.Conclusion entry in the document, it says to change the update status to 02 before saving the golden file.

1-1) Is the golden file a golden image?
1-2) Update status is not changed to 06 -> 02 is there any way?

2. Is there a way to review the validity of the Golden Image created?
(The gauging was weird on batteries with golden images made before. For example, the gauging changes to 87% ->100% in 3 minutes or 17% -> 0% in 1 minute)

Regards,

ChaeWoo

  • Hello,

Do not change the Update Status to 02. Please leave update status at 06.

Yes, the golden image == golden file.

If you are seeing SOC jumps on the new golden image, please send in your data for us to review.

    Regards,

    Jonny.

  • HELLO,

    Thank you for your response.

I would like to provide my data and ask additional questions. Apologies for sending so many inquiries at once — there seems to be a significant time difference between us. Thank you in advance for your help.

    1. I'm attaching the log file where we observed gauge jumps (from 29% to 33%, and from 94% to 100%). The log only includes charging data; discharge data is currently being extracted. Additionally, we are attaching the chemical ID information and the golden image used during charging. We would appreciate your review.

    2. Since these gauge jumps are occurring, we believe it may be necessary to test whether gauging is functioning properly before applying the golden image to production batteries. Do you have a recommended test method for this?

    3. According to the document sula903_Achieving the Successful Learning Cycle, once the Update Status becomes 0x06, the learning cycle is considered successfully completed. It also mentions that performing one more charge-discharge cycle after this changes the Update Status from 0x06 to 0x0E. Should this final charge-discharge cycle be performed on the actual device where the battery will be used?

    4. I have a question regarding the SOC Flag Config section in the Data Memory of BQStudio. According to the TRM for the bq28z610-R1, the bits TC, FC, TD, and FD can be configured to be set or cleared under certain conditions.

4-1) For example, is it okay to enable both TCSETRSOC and TCSETVCT at the same time?

4-2) If FCSETRSOC = 1 and the RSOC threshold for FC is set to 100%, then does RSOC need to reach 100% for the FC bit to be set. But at first, doesn’t the FC bit need to be set in order for RSOC to reach 100%?

    5. I have a question regarding the Term Voltage parameter in Data Memory. Is Term Voltage related to the FD flag? My understanding is that the battery is considered to be at 0% if either of the following conditions is met:

  • Hello Chae,

We have received your update and are working on your response.

    Thank you,
    Alan
