Hi Texas team members:

I have a question about typical power consumption of LM25149-Q1, I can see the standby current, the sleep current, and shutdown current in the datasheet, but I can't find operating current for this step down controller,

LM25149 is a controller and almost all of current goes through mosfet and power inductor outside, then how to evaluate the operating power consumption itself? thanks.

Hi Nick,

Best way would be to measure efficiency. n = (VOUT * IOUT)/ (VIN * IIN). Then you can subtract the known values like Iq and find how much switching losses there are.

Hi Andrew:

So what you mean is that I have to truly test LM25149 EVM board, both Poutput and Pinput(V*I)? No specification in datasheet about it's switching power loss, right? Is there any rule of thumb data since I have no LM25149 EVM in hand?
