TPS3110: Recommended Operation Conditions at the WDI Input

Part Number: TPS3110

Tool/software:

Hello

I'm Currently using TPS3110 IC

Looking at DS I notice that for "Recommended Operation Conditions" the WDI Input transition should be 100ns/V Max at MR'

I would like to know what is the meaning of " at MR' " ?

Is this 100ns/V is the Max value allow for WDI when MR' = Low ?

Thank you

  • Hi Matan,

Sorry for the confusion, the datasheet is stating that WDI and MR has the same VIH, VIL, and slew rate limits.

  • Hi Jesse

Thank you for your fast response

Usually Slew Rate Unit are 1V/us, while in the DS the Unit are ns/V- please clarify

In addition, in the DS the recommended Capacitor on the MR pin is 100nF:

I have calculate the require current on this 100nF cap for achieving this 100ns/V requirement:

    iCap= (dVcap/dt)*C= (1V/100ns)*100nF= 1Amp

In case my calculation are correct, I need a 1A driver connect to MR pin so I will be able to achieve the 100ns/V requirement- which not sound reasonable

    Please advise

    Thank you

  • Hi Matan,

The 100ns/V is the maximum tolerable slew rate for the WDI and MR. You can and should provide a slower slew rate. Once you get at the maximum spec the state machine may start having trouble detecting the your edge states.
