TPS22915: Input capacitor, Output Capacitor selection.

Part Number: TPS22915

Tool/software:

Hello, TI Team.

I am using TPS22915B in my system.

In the datasheet , Cin /Cout ratio 10:1 is recommnded.

I want to increase the output capacitance about 4.7uF.

I have 2 questions.

1. So in this case Should I use 47uF for input capacitor?

Or 10uF can be enough? Maybe 22uF? The ratio then becomes 2:1 or 4:1.

2. The datasheet says that 1uF is the recommended value,

but is it okay to use a large capacitor exceeding 10uF as the input capacitor?

Thanks.

  • Hello Sukmin,

    1. Cin /Cout ratio 10:1 is optional. You can opt for 2:1 or 4:1 too. Keep CIN>COUT.

    2. min cap of 1uF is recommended. Yes, higher cap can be used. 10 uF cap is fine.

You can review your schematic from us once completed.

    Thanks
