TPS6521905: Using any usb device for the GUI

Part Number: TPS6521905
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65219,

Tool/software:

Hey, i want to use the tps65219 gui to burn new configuration on the tps6521905 device.

The problem is that i want bridge the i2c connection to the device by connecting ftdi cable to the pc, the ftdi cable uart/i2c output goes to an fpga, and then the fpga other i/os will be connected to the pmic i2c lines.

I still dont have my pcb, but i wanted to check before that is possible to connect any usb device to the GUI, but when i connect a ftdi cable, the gui don't recognise it.

How can it be possible to achieve what im trying to do?

Thanks,

Michael

  • Hi Michael,

Thanks for reaching out on E2E!

The TPS65219 GUI is specifically designed to recognize a connection to a USB2ANY adapter or an on-board MSP430 MCU.
It will not recognize the ftdi connection.

If you have your own interface or method of sending I2C commands to the device, then that can also be used instead of the GUI.
The same steps can be followed to burn a new configuration by performing the I2C writes in order:

Let me know if you have any additional questions on the NVM burning process.

    Best Regards,
    Sarah
