TPS1H100-Q1: Selection of Current Driver IC for Variable Output Current Requirements

Part Number: TPS1H100-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2H000-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

We are currently using the TPS1H100-Q1 IC, which supports an Adjustable minimum output current of 500mA. We have also reviewed the TPS2H000-Q1 IC, which supports an Adjustable output current range from a minimum of 50mA up to a maximum of 900mA.

Our design concept involves the MCU controlling the output current in two modes:

  • Self-test mode: The MCU enables the self-test mode pin, setting the output current to 5mA of High-side power switch, during the self-test to monitor voltage and current for diagnostic.

  • Normal operation mode: After the self-test is completed, the MCU enables the appropriate control pin to set the output current to 40mA, thereby disabling the 5mA self-test mode pin.

Given that the selected ICs support output current limits starting at 500mA and 50mA respectively, we would like to request your recommendation for an automotive-qualified IC that can reliably support an output current range starting as low as 5mA and scaling up beyond 40mA, with full compliance to automotive standards. and the operating voltage is 6V-36V

Please advise if you have any suitable IC recommendations or alternatives that meet these requirements.

Regards,

Lokesh
