BQ24773: Writing configuration words for BQ2477x

Part Number: BQ24773

Tool/software:

hello,

I am using the BQ24773 IC for charge monitoring of my battery. I am sensing the ACOK output of the IC, to find if AC voltage is fed, that is to find if the battery is in charging or discharging mode.

Once the AC is fed, that is  in charging mode, I write the configuration words for charging only once.

Similarly when AC is disconnected, that is in discharging mode, I write the configuration words for discharging only once.

But with the above mentioned method, some times it is seen that, in discharge mode,  after 3 or 4 hours of working, the discharge current is incorrect and  ( roughly 30mA) -   the actual is roughly 200mA.

What could be wrong?

If I connect the AC power and disconnect it , that is select charging mode, and then come back to discharging mode, the configuration words are rewritten,   and  then the actual discharge current is measured properly.

From the above, it can be inferred that we need to periodically write configuration words in to the IC for proper working. Is this correct. I think writing the configuration words only once  should be enough. Kindly help to understand and solve the problem
