TPS92692-Q1: Adding capacitance to the CSN pin of TPS92692

Part Number: TPS92692-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello experts,

I would like to ask a question about TPS92692.

During the EMC test, the switching frequency exceeded the standard. I added a 4.7uF capacitor to the CSN pin, and it passed the test smoothly.
But I am not sure whether adding this capacitor will cause other problems, such as whether it will affect the voltage of V (CSP-CSN), or the accuracy of the output current, and bring stability problems.
Please help me analyze and give me some suggestions,

thank you

  • Hi Zhang,

This totally fine, however, we suggest attaching capacitors between CSP and ground as there could be some potential issues with regulation when attached to CSN and ground.

Also, I would look into adding a snubber filter near the switching FET, a resistor in series with the gate of the switching FET, and optimize my layout as best as possible by minimizing my loops and proper component placement.

If you can post an EMI plot, schematic, Input/output specification, switching frequency, and layout, I will  be able to tailor my advice to your application.

    Best,
    Daniel
