REF3133: REF3133-Q1 Schematic Verification

Part Number: REF3133
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28388S,

Tool/software:

Hello,

I’m currently working on motor control using the TMS320F28388S, and I’ve recently decided to replace the TL431BQDBZR voltage reference with the REF3133-Q1 in order to improve the ADC measurement accuracy and reduce noise.

Could you please review my decision? Do you think using REF3133-Q1 in this context is valid?

Also, I’ve attached the schematic for your review. Is this circuit configuration appropriate? (The 0-ohm resistor is for test purposes only and will be removed in the final revision.)

However, I do have some concerns regarding the cost of the REF3133-Q1.
If there are any more affordable alternatives with similar performance for this application, I would really appreciate your recommendation.

Thank you!

  • Hello,

To improve ADC accuracy and reduce noise, moving to a device similar to REF31 is a very good idea. We have suggestions for a more affordable, better performance alternative, and we will reach out to you directly over email to provide those recommendations.

For the schematic using REF31, your schematic follows the REF31 datasheet. You could consider adding an option for a resistor in series with C19. This allows you to adjust the ESR of the output capacitor, if necessary.

    Thanks,

    Jackson

  • Thank you. I would also like to know about other solutions for cheaper versions. TL431BQDBZR has resistance errors and I think it is not as good as REF3133 in terms of noise countermeasures. If there is a low-cost solution that can improve these parts, please suggest it.

  • Sounds good. Someone from the TI team will reach out to you with more details.

    Thanks,

    Jackson
