LP5907: Could we use 0.47uF for input and output capacitance, if the load current is very low?

Part Number: LP5907

Tool/software:

Hi Team

we use LP5907UVX-3.1 to generate 3.1V.
Input is VPH_PWR, typically 3.3V.
And our design is used to output GNSS bias 3.1V only, the current us very low.
Due to very tight space limitation, could not have room for 0201 1uF.
Could we use 01005 0.47uF for both input and output capacitor?

  • Hi Ethan,

Could we use 01005 0.47uF for both input and output capacitor?

No, this choice is not acceptable. The minimum equivalent capacitance for CIN and COUT must be greater than 0.5µF over the full range of operating conditions. Please note that capacitance at VPH_PWR node would add to the CIN and capacitance at GNSS node would add to COUT. So you need to consider the total capacitance at these nodes to meet the 0.5µF min requirement.

    Thanks
