LM5066I: LM5066I

Part Number: LM5066I

Tool/software:

Hello,

This is not directly relevant to part number that I mentioned above but I am looking for similar ICs that can handle following requirement

  • Nominal voltage 28V
  • UVLO, OVLO
  • Power switch
  • Current limit at 5A and latch (auto latch or manual reset) for 20s if continuously 5A

I am not really concerned about nominal voltage, UVLO, OVLO feature as there are many ICs from TI that can handle it.

But I can't seem to find (or maybe not possible at IC level) that can limit the current for that period if time (20s). So I want DC current to be monitored through the switch and limit the current at 5A. If 5A is consistently flowing through the load for 20s, I want to either switch off immediately then reset it after 20s (could be a bit longer or shorter), or auto restart but with reasonably same time as monitoring time.

I am thinking that they rely on current source inside of ICs, which is very small, not only timer capacitor will become too big and discharge time will be too long so it will not be closer to what I am trying to achieve.

Can anyone confirm that this is possible at IC level or should I go with discrete design?

Thanks
