TPS62130A: minimum VIN

Tool/software:

Is there a minimum VIN requirement based on the VOUT? The datasheet shows a test condition for PWM mode operation, VIN => VOUT + 1V. I have a VIN of 5.3V and would like to regulate VOUT to be 4.5V. The current consumption will be approximately 600mA. Will this operate correctly with VIN 5.3V or do I need a minimum VIN of 5.5V?

Hi Joe,

Check section 8.4.3 eq.3 in the datasheet that shows the minimum VIN required to maintain regulation. You need to know the inductor DCR

Hi Amod,

Thanks! DCR for the inductor is 40mohm. Should I be using Rds(on) = 120mohm for my VIN of 5.3V?

Vin(min) = 4.5V + 600mA (120mohm + 40mohm) = 4.6V

Is this correct? Very similar to an LDO dropout.
