LP5024: Regarding the relationship between PWM and IREF.

Part Number: LP5024

Tool/software:

Hi AE,

       1. If I set the current to 10mA and control the PWM with a 50% duty cycle, the average current will be around 5mA, correct?

       2. If I want to set a constant current of 10 mA, I need to use a 7.35 kΩ resistor, right?

       3. Imax depends on the Max_Current_Option bit to protect against IREF being shorted or left floating, right?

Best Regards

  • Hi Bruce,

    Please find my answers below.

    1. Yes, it is correct.
    2. Yes, the calculation is correct.
    3. Almost here,
      1. But Imax is the maximum output current that the device can output when Max_Current_Option = 0 or 1, in other words, if you want to output higher than 25.5mA current, the Max_Current_Option should be set as 1.
      2. Actually, the Ilim is the current will be limited when Max_Current_Option = 0 or 1 if the IREF short to GND.
