BQ25887: 2S LiPo not charging and not powering system when VBUS is removed

Hi TI Community,

I’m working on a design that uses a 2S LiPo battery pack (7.4 V, 400 mAh), and I need the system to behave as follows:

  1. While external power is present, the charger should both power the system and charge the batteries.

  2. When external power is removed, the batteries should automatically take over and power the system.

Right now, however:

  • The batteries are not charging, and

  • When external power is disconnected, the system does not receive the 7.4 V from the batteries.

Could someone help me understand what I may have misunderstood about this device's behavior or how to configure it properly?

Is this IC compatible with 2S battery packs (7.4 V)? Or do I need a different approach for this application?
