UCC25661: TSET pin feature for PFC on/off

Part Number: UCC25661

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am planning to use UCC256612 in one of the AC-DC converter project.

I would like to know if this device comes with PFC on/off signaling feature on TSET pin in case of any fault identified by LLC PWM controller.

Thanks

Regards

  • Hi Dhananjay,

The UCC256614 has the PFC On/Off feature enabled on the TSET pin. When the device enters into burst mode, this pin can actively disable the PFC to minimize standby power.

I hope this answers your question.

  • Hello,

In datasheet as shown in below image, TSET pin can be seen toggling with HV start up enabled feature IC like UCC256612. During start up, TSET is high which can be used to keep PFC controller off. Once VCCP of LLC is established, LLC controller send low signal on TSET to ramp up PFC. This is shown for the ICs which has HV start up enabled and UCC256612 has this feature. This is confusing. Please address this topic.

In UCC256612, TSET cant be used to turn of PFC in case of any fault?

    Regards

    Thanks

  • Hi Dhananjay,

OK. Yes. if you can use this to shutdown the PFC in the event of a fault.

  • Hello,

    thanks for response.

please let me know what is difference between pfc on/off feature on tset pin in ucc256612 and ucc256614?

    thanks

    regards

  • HI Dhananjay,

The difference is that the UCC256614 will force the TSET pin high when the device enters into burst mode. The other variants will high-voltage startup only do this when a fault occurs.

I hope this answers your question.
