TLC59116: Regarding the definition of Io

Tool/software:

We are considering using the TLC59116 to control multiple RGB LED elements with a constant current.

The Io specifications are listed in 7.3 on page 6 of the datasheet.

It states that out0 to out15 are Min. 5mA Max. 120mA, but is it correct to interpret this as the specification for each out terminal?

Our current plan is to connect 16 channels of If=20mA.

Hi Hiroshi,

Yes, the output current of each output can be set as 5mA to 120mA.

Do you plan to set the output current of each output as 20mA? If yes, the external resistor connected to the REXT can be set as 937 Ω to set the output current as 20mA when keep the register IREF (address 0x1C) with default value.

I understand that this refers to the current value for each channel.

I plan to use it at Typ. 20mA.

Thank you for kindly letting me know the resistance value.

I need to keep it around 20mA to change the amount of light emitted by the LED, so I will look at the formula

on the datasheet and study it.

Thank you for your kindness.

I am checking the Rext power calculations now.

The EVM showed 1/16W, so I think there will be problems even with normal-sized products.

I will check the calculation formula on the datasheet.
