Operating LM2588 at 140KHz

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2588

Hello

I am new to power supply design field. I am trying to operate LM2588 at 140 KHz. Can anyone please help me to find the exact Freq. Adjustment Resistor and the values for compensation components. The values given in the datasheet are for 100KHz.

  • Anemary,

A resistor connected from pin 1 to ground will adjust the frequency. You can use the curve on page 10 of the LM2588 data sheet. This curve shows oscillator frequency versus resistance. For 140kHz a resistor around 72 kOhm should do. Page 12 of the datasheet describes the frequency adjustments for this part

  • Hello Richard

thanx for the reply. I had noticed the grpah in the data sheet, was not sure wether it'd work with a potentiometer of 100K, so was looking for a exact resistor value. How about the compensation network then?

  • Anemary,

Take a look at the web folder for the LM2588, on the right you will see "WEBENCH". Here you can enter your design parameters and the WEBENCH tool will create the design, taking care of your compensation.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Richard.
