Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2116, TPS2552,
Tool/software:
Dear,
this is the follow up of a previous thread open for TPS2116
I plan to use TPS2552BDV in combination with TPS2116.
The purpose would be to power the 5V to 3.3V DCDC converter from the internal power supply when the device is behaving as USB HOST and from the 5V coming from the USB connector when it is behaving as USB DEVICE, below you can find a block diagram.
During the USB DEVICE mode the desired behaviour is highlighted in red in the image below
5V_POWER (VIN1) is not present (it is either 0V or floating)
5V_USB (VIN2) is present
The desired behavior in this case is that 3.3V buck is powered by 5V_USB
Questions:
1) Is there any issure for TPS2552 to have 5V on the OUT pin when the IN pin is at 0V/floating?
2) I saw this old forum post where it seems to be a leakage issue with the component, is it still present? Can TPS2552 be damaged if current flows in the reverse path? I am asking this because TPS2116 would switch from 5V_USB to 5V_PWR if voltage at VIN is higher than 3.5V, I would like to avoid an unstable behaviour
