TPS62868: register/address question

Part Number: TPS62868
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62869

Tool/software:

Hi Sir

I have a few questions regarding the TPS62868 and TPS62869:

  1. Do they have the same I²C address?

  2. Do these two devices have a chip ID register? If so, is it the same for both?

  3. Are there any differences in their register maps?

Background Note:
Our DSP vendor recommends using the TPS62868 for DVS with their DSP(Power IC's I2C will directly connect to DSP). However, I'm not sure if I can replace it with the TPS62869 without issues. This is because the DSP vendor might be hardcoded to control power ICs with specific I²C addresses or register settings.
If the TPS62868 and TPS62869 have identical I²C addresses, register maps, and chip IDs (if applicable), then perhaps they are interchangeable.

  • Hello Jericho,

thanks for reaching out in E2E.

The TPS62868 and TPS62869 share the same datasheet, so the programming, the target I2C address byte and the register map is the same.

These devices do not have a chip ID register.

The target I2C address byte can be assigned from a table (Table 8-1 in the datasheet) with an external resistor. Both devices would use the same I2C address byte at the same resistor value.

    Best regards,

    Andreas.
