TPS650362-Q1: Unable to write with PMIC TPS650362-Q1 through I2C

Hello All,

We are unable to write to any registers on the PMIC (model TPS65036X) through I2C communication.

Details: When we check the REGISTER_LOCK register, it always reads as 1 (locked), even after we attempt to unlock it by writing the required 0x9B value.

Question:

Are there additional configuration steps or a specific sequence we need to follow to get this working ?

Hi Hossam,

TPS650362-Q1 is a GPN; please provide an OPN with customer OTP settings attached to check if its I2C CRC feature is enabled. If it's enabled, you need to follow the FAQ linked here to calculate the CRC byte value for properly I2C operations.

CRC feature is enabled by OTP, Can I disable CRC feature though this register and then write in any register in PMIC?

Hi Hossam,

Yes; but you still need the CRC value to make the bit of the register changed and then CRC feature is disabled.

Hi Phil,

for my understand if we disable the CRC feature though write in register 0x24 bit 7 So we don't need to CRC bit in sequence write according to snip mention below

Also Can we write in the register 0x24 and register lock 0x009 bit 0 is equal to 1( locked ) ?

Hi Hossam,

Yes you can. But, since the NVM has enabled the CRC, your first writing STILL need the CRC byte inserted for successful writing the register 0x24.
