TPS2663: Current Limit

Part Number: TPS2663

Tool/software:

Hi,

The Current Limit was evaluated using TPS26631.

In the waveform, the output current and voltage decreased at tCL_PLIM (dly) =25ms after tCB (dly) elapsed.

In case of TPS26631, I think tCL_PLIM (dly) =129~202ms. Please tell me why it is 25ms.

1ch: OUT pin, 2ch; IN pin, 3ch: IOUT

The MODE pin is connected to the GND, and the ILIM pin is connected to the GND via a 8.2kΩ resistor.

Best Regards,

Nishie

  • Hello Nishie,

Device goes into thermal shut-down before completing tCL_PLIM(dly). Find the datasheet explanation below.

The power dissipation across the device during this operation is (VIN –VOUT) × IOL, and this can heat up the device and eventually enter into thermal shutdown. The maximum duration for the overcurrent through the FET tCL_PLIM(dly), 162 ms (typical). If the thermal shutdown occurs before this time, the internal FET turns OFF and the subsequent operation (auto-retry or latch-off) depends on the MODE pin configuration.

    Thanks

    Amrit
