LM76002: Open Short test result

Part Number: LM76002

Tool/software:

Hi expert,

My customer would like to know the open short test result and behaivor at specific pins as below. Do we have any data?

OPEN test

1. VCC w/o 2.2uF bypass capacitor

2. FB open with PVIN=60V

3. SYNC/MODE open, no external clock is connected

SHORT test

1. VCC short to GND

2. FB short to GND with PVIN=60V

Kotaro Yamashita

  • Hi Yamashita-san,

We do not have the specific data, but we can expect some form of the following behavior:

    1) if no bypass capacitor, VCC output can be unstable. It can affect the operation of the internal circuits.

    2) Output will try to regulate towards input voltage if top feedback resistor is open. If bottom feedback resistor is open, output will regulate to the reference voltage

    3) Device will not know which light-load operating mode to be in, so may see unexpected operations at light-load.

    Short test:

    1) Device may be damaged if VCC short to ground during test.

    2) If feedback short to ground, output will try to regulate to input voltage.

    Thanks,

    Richard
