TPS53689: How to write program data with the BeeProg2

Part Number: TPS53689
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BEEPROG2,

Tool/software:

Hello,

We are considering using the BeeProg2 to write a program file to the TPS53689.
Could you please provide information on the following two points?

①When exporting a program file from Fusion Digital Power Designer, what file format do you recommend?
It appears that csv, hex, and xml are available for selection.
We will be programming a device that does not have any data written to it.

②When exporting as a Text File, there is a "What to export" option with the choices of "NVM" and "PMBUS Commands".
What is the difference between these two options?

Thank you.

  • Hi Sawada,

    Answers are as follows.

    1. All file formats are well acceptable by the device. However, I am unsure whether BeeProg2 can support all these formats. If BeeProg2 accepts these, I would suggest to use HEX

    2. Please use NVM option.

    Regards

    Vasav

  • Thank you for your response.

Regarding "HEX," does it refer to "Intel hex" in the "NVM Config File"?

I also have an additional question.
If I want to set exactly the same settings for two devices except for the PMBUS address, is it acceptable to write exactly the same data to both devices?
Note: In the data, the PMBUS address is also set to be the same.
In this case, the addresses are set separately using pin strapping on the board, and in the NVM settings, the "ADDR" under "Override Pinstrapping" is set to 1b (set by the pin detection).
The reason for this is that I do not want to increase the number of types of data to be written.

    Thank you.

  • I will get back to you.

  • Hi Sawada,

    Writing the same code:

    - yes, you can write same code to all the devices. Provided, all the devices have same MFR part number.

    Question on hex file:

Please write a separate E2E. We will assign that to our software expert.

    Regards

    Vasav
