LM51551: How to custom hiccup mode behavior in LM51551

Tool/software:

Hi,

We are currently evaluating the LM51551 for our application and have a question regarding the hiccup mode behavior.

According to the datasheet, LM51551 initiates a hiccup mode restart after detecting 64 cycles of current limiting, followed by a 32,768-cycle hiccup off-time before resuming operation. We would like to know if the following customizations are possible:

  • Extend the 64-cycle current limit detection window to allow the IC to remain in operation longer before entering hiccup mode

  • Shorten the 32,768-cycle hiccup off-time to enable faster restart

Could you please advise if there are any methods (e.g., external component configuration or alternative devices) that can achieve this behavior?
If these parameters are internally fixed and not configurable, we would appreciate confirmation of that as well.

Best regards,
Conor
