TPS7C84-Q1: PG threshold

Part Number: TPS7C84-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Could you please advise the PG threshold voltage?

I would like to know the threshold of Rising and Falling threshold each.

The datasheet description is little confusing to me.

For example,

PG will start to go low somewhere Vout >92%. If Vout<92%, PG must go low. In this case, how much is the maximum voltage where PG go low?

Because rising threshold is 97% maximum and hysteresis is 2%, then 95% of Vout is the maximum possible falling threshold?

Is my understanding correct?

regards,

  • Hello Tsuji-san,

    Hysteresis is merely a typical value (measured from bench test data over about 30 chips usually) at a specific temperature. While it should give you a good estimate it is not specified over the entire temperature range nor guaranteed like the limits. The hysteresis can technically be anywhere between 0% and 5% and the device may remain within spec.

    The max falling threshold is 97%: the Vout Falling threshold must be below 97% to remain within datasheet spec. This is a consequence of PG being guaranteed high at 97% and hysteresis being positive.

    The min rising threshold is 92%: the Vout Rising threshold must be above 92% to remain within datasheet spec. This is a consequence of PG being guaranteed low at 92% and hysteresis being positive.

    Most of the range in a real part is due to temperature dependence shifting values, and you can expect a much tighter range than the limits.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

    Let me rephrase it.

    I am looking for the PG function that guarantee below specification.

    Is that possible for TPS7C84-Q1 to meet this?

    If Vout is >95% of Vout_target --> PG=High

    If Vout is <90% of Vout_target --> PG=Low

    If Vout is between 90% of Vout_target and 95% of Vout_ target --> PG unknown

    regards,

  • Hi Tsuji-san,

    The TPS7C84-Q1 will not meet that exactly. While that behavior falls within the part's spec, the spec does not guarantee it.

    Best,
