BQ25713: What's the difference between low power mode and ship mode

Part Number: BQ25713

Tool/software:

Hi,

I am using the BQ25713 in a 2s battery application and have some questions about the shipping mode:

  1. Does the BQ25713 support a shipping mode? If so, is any additional hardware design required to implement it?

  2. What is the difference between low power mode and shipping mode? I found that the quiescent current in low power mode is 22µA, but I couldn’t find corresponding data for shipping mode or which functions are disabled in that mode.

  3. The datasheet mentions that enabling shipping mode discharges the SRN pin below 3.8V within 140 ns and then automatically exits shipping mode. Could you please clarify this behavior?

  4. How can shipping mode be exited? Is it only by connecting USB power and clearing the EN_SHIP_DCHG register?

Thank you for your assistance.

  • Hi, Edward,

    1. BQ25713 does not support shipping mode.

    2. Shipping mode can have low IQ<22uA.

    3. This function only discharges battery cap, assuming the battery pack can support shipping mode.

    4. You can wake up a battery pack in shipping mode by applying a voltage on battery pack, for example, enabling charge function.

    Regards,
