TPS2482: No suitable slew-rate even though other TI hotswap calculators can make it work

Part Number: TPS2482
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5069

Tool/software:

Hi

I want to use TPS2482 to precharge 9mF with a steady state current limit of 6A at 24V. Because I want fast over-current response time, I need external soft start control. I am using a good SOA FET in a D2PAK package (PSMN4R8-100BSE). I have attached the calculator Excell sheets.

The TPS2482 calculator reports that:

Max slew rate: 0.03V/ms

Min slew rate: 0.10V/ms

However, the LM5069 calculator reports that:

Max slew rate: 0.13V/ms

Min slew rate: 0.10V/ms

I succeed getting a working design using LM5069. Why can I not get a working design using TPS2482? I must lower the output capacitance from 9mF to 2mF to get a working design with TPS2482. It seems weird that TPS2482 can not precharge even 3mF with the selected FET.

Kind regards

Bjørn
