TPS43060: TPS43060 applies in CC/CV loop

Part Number: TPS43060

Tool/software:

   Hi TI Expert,

The TPS43060 is used to boost from 20V-38V/5A to 42V/3A - 54.6V/2.5A for charging the lithium battery pack of an electric scooter with CC/CV.

The charging current and voltage are modulated by the PWM wave output from the MCU. Please review the feasibility of the circuit.

If possible, help simulate the circuit parameters of the CC/CV loop.

Thanks and Best Regards!

Sammy

  • Hi Sammy,

So the 42V-54.6V output voltage is regulated by the regular TPS43060 feedback loop, while and additional constant current loop feeds into the FB pin of the controller.
    Is this understanding correct?
The approach is definitely feasible. Unfortunately, I can give no feedback on the schematic snippet, as I am missing too much information about the rest of the TPS43060 circuit.
I like to recommend this app note when it comes to adding CC loops to an existing regulator. This approach works for both buck and boost designs.
