TPS25751: TPS25751 + BQ25756 in source application without battery pack

Part Number: TPS25751
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25756, , BQ25758, TPS65994BG, TPS66994

Tool/software:

Hi Sir,

Our customer is want to design a power source solution by using TPS25751 and BQ25756 with PDO is 20V5A (max). But they'll provide 19V DC source directly without battery pack.

1.  Can BQ25756 work without real battery pack in TPS25751's setting?

2.  Can we use BQ25758 to replace BQ25756 in their application?

3. Or any other suitable solution to replace TPS25751... Maybe TPS65994BG or TPS66994?

Thanks and regard,

Gary Teng

  • Hello,

    1.  Can BQ25756 work without real battery pack in TPS25751's setting?

Yes.  However, this is currently not supported.

    2.  Can we use BQ25758 to replace BQ25756 in their application?

Yes.  Same as above, this is currently not supported.  You would need to implement several additional ICs to create a source only solution.

    3. Or any other suitable solution to replace TPS25751... Maybe TPS65994BG or TPS66994?

TI is only willing to support the existing solutions found on ti.com.  Other suitable solutions are only provided for large volume customers.

    Regards,
