UCD90160A: Query Regarding UCD90160A Watchdog Control from U-Boot and Kernel

Hi Team,

I am currently working with the UCD90160A device and have successfully tested its watchdog functionality. As per our system requirements, we need to disable the watchdog during U-Boot execution and re-enable it later from the kernel.

Could you please confirm if this approach is feasible? Any guidance or recommended steps to achieve this configuration would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, it is feasible. Please toggle the high light check box to enable or disable

Thanks for the quick response.We will try this option.But I need dynamic control through I2c to disable and enable the watchdog functionality.

Hi,

If you want to use I2C to disable the watchdog function, try sending SYSTEM_WATCHDOG_RESET (D4h) Send-Byte command to device periodically within the "Reset-Period time" to reset System Watchdog timeout counter. To enable watchdog function, stop sending D4h command.

Hi Anne,

In our design the WDI pin is connected to a GPIO pin , and am able to continues pulse to the GPIO from kernel.

is it possible to do the same from u-boot?

Hi,

It is possible. Make sure to set the "Start Time" and "Reset Period" so that WDI have enough time to send the pulses before Watchdog timer expires.
