TPS552892-Q1: how do I estimate the sinking current capability?

Part Number: TPS552892-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS63070, LM51772, TPS552892

Tool/software:

Hi, Brice, How did you determine the -2.5A? how much can it source?

Hi Janos, Andrew,

Thanks for the discussion, TPS552892 can be used as TPS63070, but the sink current would be about -2.5A, can't be down to -3A. For higher sink current buck-boost device, you can look at LM51772 which is buck-boost controller.

BRs,

Bryce

  • Hi Andrew,

The -2.5A sink current capability is the average negative inductor current limit which is internal spec, not in datasheet.

The source capability is 8A typ which is also the average inductor current limit.

    Bryce
