PROBLEM WITH INITIALIZE CHARGE WITH BQ24650

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24650

Good evening,

I'm using a 12V sealed , lead-acid battery and i want charge it with bq24650.

I have set the resistor value as datashhet page2, but my proplem is that just give power to the solar panel or a regulated power supply, STAT2 Is always on and the led that indicate the charge complete is on.the charge don't start but the battery voltage is 12.1V and it is low.

VFB IS 2.0V,VREF 3,3V

I try to connect TERM_EN and TS to the ground but the charge don't start however

What cab be the problem?

thakyou for support.

  • As explained on page 18 of the datasheet, the TS pin must be at a voltage between VREF and GND in order for the IC to charge.

As explained on pages 12-13, the MPPSET pin must be at a voltage above 1.2V but less than 5V in order for the IC to charge.  For example, the resistor divider on the EVM is set so that the IC will not charge unless the input voltage is above 21V.

I also suggest you review http://www.ti.com/litv/pdf/slyt424.

  • hi,

the MPPSET pin is above 1.2V with resistor as datasheeet and now the TS pin is 2V

the problem that i have now is that when i turn on stabilized power supply (22V) the charge start (with a current about 150mA)but after a second charge stop.

    which may be the cause?

    the Vsrp-Vsrn too high?the Rsr is 50mohm

    thak you
