I would like to know how to determine the maximum capacitance loading for TPSM86838RCGR.
Neither the datasheet nor WEBENCH analytics provide this information, phase margin changes with capacitance.
Maybe I am missing something, and I have not seen enough information to make sure the module will be stable with heavy capacitive loading.
WEBENCH does provide recommended capacitor output value range when one selects an alternative value.
Is this recommended range valid?
There is a formula in the datasheet, but no example is given for section 7.2.2.2 Output Filter Selection.
Is this an additional filter, or is this related to the switching inductor within the part? No value for the internal inductor is given in the datasheet.
Table 7-2 gives recommended component values only.
Please advise and provide a formula or calculator, or application note where the phase margin can be calculated for stability.
Due to global shortages we have to use this part from other TPSM series modules to qualify our designs.
WEBENCH does not provide adequate analysis. I tested this by excessively loading the output capacitor in the design without any error from WEBENCH.
