BQ40Z50-R1: Abnormal COV flag

For a 5-string battery, after the customer used it for a while, the voltage B5 of one of the cells dropped to 0V. Why did the Gauge flag show that both COV and CUV were turned on simultaneously? Normally, only CUV should be displayed. The attachment is the gg file and the flag picture. Please help analyze the reason why the COV flag was turned on? thank you

Hi Putong,

The recovery for the COV protection is reliant on the max cell voltage. in this case, the configured recovery threshold is 4100mV, where all the cells will need to be below this to recover from the COV.
