UCC27282-Q1: Functional safety capability

Part Number: UCC27282-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS4800-Q1,

Tool/software:

Hi,

I’ve identified a category of functional safety-capable ICs from Texas Instruments and have shortlisted a few for our design, listed below. Could you please guide us on how to implement the functional safety features for each of these devices? Additionally, we would like to understand if using these parts can help us achieve the ASIL-C level requirement we are targeting.

  1. TPS61033QDRLRQ1  - Boost regulator
  2. UCC27282QDRCRQ1 - Half-bridge driver IC
  3. TPS4800-Q1 - eFuse
  4. INA333QDGKRQ1 - Instrumentation amplifier

  • Hey Aiswarya,

Thank you for reaching out with your questions regarding the UCC27282-Q1.

As outlined by the Functional Safety documentation for the UCC27282-Q1, this functional safety capable device can be used to aid in a functional safety system design. It does not provide functional safety in and of itself. Component failure rates and failure modes are provided for the industry standard requirements and classifications outlined in the document (example: ISO 26262). You must determine if this can achieve the ASIL-C level that you are needing as we cannot advise regarding this standard. We are only able to provide the documentation that this product is Functional Safety Capable under the standards outlined in the Functional Safety Document seen below.

UCC27282-Q1 Functional Safety, FIT Rate, Failure Mode Distribution and Pin FMA (Rev. B)

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Thank you,

    William Moore
