TPS922051: Inquiry regarding SW pin connection diode of TPS922051

Part Number: TPS922051

Tool/software:

Hi, TI expert

Looking at the datasheet of TPS922051, the SW pin is connected to a schottky diode.

In the case of other devices, the schottky diode may not be connected.

Can you explain why the SW pin of TPS922051 is connected to a schottky diode?

Please check. Thank you.

  • Dear Sir,

Not sure what does below case refer to? For TPS922051, you can refer to the block diagram that one FET is integrated and this rectifier diode is must needed. For synchronous Buck, this diode is not needed. Here for non-synchronous Buck, it's required.

In the case of other devices, the schottky diode may not be connected.

BTW, may I know customer and EE? You can send to my email (lucia-gao@ti.com) and we can have offline discussion.

    Thank you!

    BR

    Lucia
